Policy
What Debagle collects, why, and what you can do about it. The important thing up front: this is a product built on video, so we record it, an automated judge reads it, and some of it is published.
1
Who we are and what this covers
This policy explains how Persist Ventures (“we”) handles personal data for Debagle at debagle.com(the “Service”). It applies to everyone who uses the Service, including guests. You can reach us about privacy at privacy@debagle.com.
2
What we collect
The clearest way to say it is in a table.
| What | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account | Your name, email and profile picture from the sign-in provider you use; your username; a profile banner if you add one. |
| Your content | The video and audio you record, the answers you post, and transcripts we generate from them. |
| Results | Your ratings, scores, verdicts, ranks and match history. |
| Usage | Device and browser type, IP address, and log data about how you interact with the Service. |
| Support | Anything you send us when you contact us or report a problem. |
We do not ask for special-category data (such as health or precise location), and you should not put it into a recording either.
3
How we collect it
Directly, when you create an account, record, or contact us. Automatically, through your device and cookies or similar storage as you use the Service. And from the sign-in provider you choose, which passes us the basic profile fields named above.
4
How we use it
- to run debates and Qrena, including matchmaking and recording;
- to transcribe your recordings and have an automated judge score them, which is core to how the Service works;
- to produce and display rankings, profiles, and the public pages the Service is built around;
- to keep the Service safe, including detecting abuse and enforcing our Terms;
- to fix, measure and improve the Service;
- to contact you about your account or important changes.
5
Our legal basis
Where laws like the GDPR apply, we rely on: performing our contract with you (to provide the Service), our legitimate interests (to keep it safe and improve it), your consent (where we ask for it), and compliance with the law. The precise mapping of purpose to legal basis is one of the items your review should confirm.
6
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run the Service:
- Service providers who work for us under contract: our hosting and infrastructure, our sign-in and authentication provider, the provider whose model powers transcription and judging, and analytics.
- The public, for the parts of your content and profile the Service is designed to show, as described in our Terms.
- Authorities or otherswhere we are required by law, or to protect people's safety or our rights.
7
Where your data is processed
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we rely on the safeguards the law requires for that transfer. The specific mechanisms and storage locations are an item for your legal review to finalise.
8
How long we keep it
We keep account and content data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data from our active systems within a reasonable period and from backups shortly after, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation or resolve a dispute. Content you made public, or that others saved or shared, may persist outside our control.
9
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of your personal data, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email privacy@debagle.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. The exact rights that apply to you depend on your jurisdiction.
10
Cookies and similar storage
We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You can control these through your browser, though some are needed for the Service to work at all, such as the token that keeps you logged in.
11
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you share content at your own risk.
12
Children
Debagle is not for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age, and if we learn we have, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child has used the Service can contact us at privacy@debagle.com.
13
Contact and requests
For any privacy question or request, email privacy@debagle.com. We aim to respond within the timeframe the law requires.
14
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as the Service changes. When a change is material, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
